Assam Cabinet takes key decisions on seats in Medical College

The Assam government has planned to add two seats in medical colleges for each of the state’s six tribes. 

After the cabinet meeting that took place in Guwahati on Friday, cabinet minister Jayanta Mallabaruah made the announcement. Nine spots in the MBBS programme are now available to former servicemen.

Additionally, the age restriction for candidates appointed to medical colleges has been raised. The age restriction has been lowered by two years in all categories. 

The general caste’s upper age restriction will now be 40 years, the OBC and MOBC’s upper age limit has been raised to 42 years, and the ST and SC’s upper age limit is 45 years.
