The flood situation in Dibrugarh in Upper Assam has turned grim. Residents have been advised to stay away from the Brahmaputra River as its has surpassed the danger level, posing a significant threat to the city and its low lying areas.

Most parts of Dibrugarh have remained submerged for the past two days due to floods triggered by incessant rain.

According to the latest reports, the river is currently flowing at 105.78 meters, with the water level continuously rising.

The continuous rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra River has flooded all low-lying areas in the city, leaving a section of people without food and causing suffering for animals, who are also struggling to find food.

The water level continues to rise, exacerbating the crisis for both people and animals in the affected regions, while the flooding has also inundated various schools, social institutions, forest division offices, and main roads throughout the city.

District Commissioner Bikram Kairi has convened a meeting with the officials of the Disaster Management Authorities and Water Resources Department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to take stock of the situation and asked everyone to be alerted.

The District Administration will assess the situation today, and medical teams will be dispatched to the affected areas to provide necessary assistance.
