A tense situation gripped Assam’s Samaguri on October 16, following another clash between BJP and Congress workers. The dispute left the BJP’s Samaguri Mandal social media convenor, severely injured after an alleged attack on him by Congress workers. The victim has been identified as Ashraful Alam.
Congress leaders claim the incident escalated when BJP workers allegedly set off firecrackers inside the home of Congress worker Hajrat Ali. The dispute soon turned violent, resulting in two cars being damaged and nearby houses suffering minor harm. The Nagaon Police responded swiftly, bringing the situation under control.
Reportedly, Alam was attacked with sharp weapons, sustaining severe injuries, and later was rushed to Nagaon Civil Hospital for immediate treatment. The political atmosphere in the area remains charged, with both parties accusing each other of instigating violence during the ongoing re-poll in Samaguri.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, as tensions continue to rise ahead of the polls. Leaders from both the BJP and Congress have expressed concerns over the escalating violence, with fears that this incident may further deepen political divides in the region.
