Assam: Army Lt Colonel arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend

The army officer who was arrested for his alleged link with the matter has been identified as Lt. Colonel Amrindar Singh Walia

An Army officer, Lt Colonel Amarinder Singh Walia has been arrested from the 4 Corps Army headquarters in Tezpur for allegedly killing his girlfriend.

Police arrested Lt Col Walia after they recovered a body of a woman from Changsari in Kamrup district in the outskirts of Guwahati on February 15. The body was dumped near the National Highway 31.

The body was identified as that of Vandhana Shree, a resident of Tamil Nadu. It is the locket that she was wearing that gave clues to the police that led them to Lt Col Walia.

Lt Col Walia was arrested from the 4 Corps Army Headquarters in Tezpur by Kamrup Police in collaboration with Tezpur Police.

Lt Col Amarindar Singh Walia, a resident of Punjab, was allegedly involved in a relationship with the deceased woman.

The lady’s father has reached Guwahati and interrogation of Lt Col Walia is going on at the Changsari police station.

The body of the deceased has been kept at the morgue.
