Five more COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati on Monday.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about the development on his official twitter handle.
Sarma on his tweet stated that 5 patients of Bongaigaon, who were admitted at MMCH in Guwahati, are discharged from the hospital.
“Glad to share that 5 #COVID19 patients of Bongaigaon, who were admitted at MMCH, are discharged today. Total discharged patients are 39 now. So far, 64 total cases in Assam, while active cases are 22, as one person who had tested positive here had left for Bihar. #AssamCares”, Sarma tweeted.
Earlier in the day, Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a 50-bedded state-of-art, fully functional Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH).
The ICU fitted with ventilators and oxygen equipment is expected to bolster the Assam health department’s preparedness in fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sarma inaugurated the ICU in the presence of minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika, Jorhat MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, JMCH principal and health department officials.
It may be mentioned that 2 positive COVID-19 patients from Jorhat are being treated at the JMCH. The two women arrived at Jorhat from Mumbai by an ambulance.
The ambulance driver from Mumbai also tested positive for the deadly virus and is cuurently under treatment in Bihar.
