Assam’s golden girl Hima Das arrives in her homestate to a rousing welcome.

Chief Minister Sarbananada Sonowal welcomed the star sprinter at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport amdist cheers from her fans who gathered in thousands to receive the Asiad hero.

Fans thronged to the streets of Guwahati to get a glimpse of the star sprinter. Many rode bikes alongside the car which Hima was travelling in.

Chants of Hima Das echoed the entire stretch of road from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport to Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.

It was a picture of celebration, of joy and of pride as the Dhing Express finally reaches her home state after her Asiad glory.

The ace sprinter later arrived at the Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra where she offered tributes to Bhupen Hazarika after covering the distance in a big rally.

The rally accompanying Hima then took the route to the Sarusajai Stadium where she was welcomed by her fellow athletes, sportspersons and coaches.

The Assam Government will felicitate Hima Das at a special function in Sankardev Kalakshetra this evening.

India’s latest sprint sensation was at the centre stage in the 2018 Asian Games bagging three medals with one gold and two silvers to prove that it’s a new dawn for the country in Athletics.

It is to be mentioned that recently the state government had announced a reward of Rs 1.60 crore for Hima Das.
