As COVID-19 second wave grips Assam, CM Sonowal takes stock of situation

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday conducted a video conference with the deputy commissioners, health officials and other stakeholders of the state to take stock of the COVID-19 situation and discussed steps to contain the disease.
Taking to Twitter, Sonowal informed that the state government will focus on extensive testing and creation of micro-containment zones to combat the spread of Coronavirus.
“Reviewed preparations and took stock of the second #COVID19 wave with DCs, health officials & other stakeholders via video conferencing. We will be focussing on extensive testing and creation of micro-containment zones to combat this 2nd wave,” Sonowal tweeted.
The chief minister directed the DCs to expedite vaccination process and ramp up medical infrastructure and further urged them to create massive awareness among the masses.
It may be mentioned that as the second wave of COVID-19 has gripped the entire nation, Assam recorded as many as 583 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, with 193 cases registered alone in Kamrup (M).
With this, the active Coronavirus cases tally in Assam has gone up to 2,387, while 2,16,041 people have recovered from the disease so far.
The overall cases tally has reached 2,20,893, according to the bulletin of the state National Health Mission.
