Arunachal’s Diana Taying Becomes Stat’s First Woman Football Referee at National-Level, CM Khandu Congratulates

Arunachal's First Woman Football Referee: She cleared the National Football Referee Examination in March this year, conducted by the AIFF.

Arunachal’s Diana Taying has etched her name in history by becoming the first woman football referee from the state to officiate at a national-level match.

She achieved this feat by serving as an assistant referee in the Khelo India Youth Games match between Manipur and Andhra Pradesh, held at the IOCL Barauni ground in Begusarai, Bihar. Manipur clinched a 3-0 victory in the match played on Monday.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated her, stating, “Kudos to Diana Taying… demonstrating immense dedication & excellence. Wishing her success in breaking barriers and inspiring others!”

Originally from Miglung village in Bilat, East Siang district, the 26-year-old has an impressive academic background with degrees in BA, BPEd, and an MA in sports psychology.

She cleared the National Football Referee Examination in March this year, conducted by the All India Football Federation in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
