Arunachal’s 37 Players To Participate In National Games To Be Held In Uttarakhand

Arunachal Pradesh is set to participate in the 38th National Games, scheduled to take place in Uttarakhand from 28 January to 14 February 2025. The announcement was made by Arunachal Olympic Association President Taba Tedir, who expressed enthusiasm for the state’s involvement in this prestigious event.

So far, Arunachal Pradesh has qualified in seven sports disciplines: badminton, boxing, judo, taekwondo, canoeing and kayaking, weightlifting, and wushu.

A total of 37 athletes will represent the state, with 10 in badminton, 10 in wushu, 5 in weightlifting, 2 in boxing, and one each in judo, taekwondo, and kayaking.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu also shared his excitement on X, stating, “Excited to share that Arunachal Pradesh will proudly participate in the 38th National Games. This milestone reflects the growing sporting talent of our state and the dedication of our athletes.” He also hinted at the possibility of more disciplines being added to the roster.

The 38th National Games, an Olympic-style multi-sport event, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The competition will feature 32 sporting disciplines and four demonstration events, bringing together athletes from across India.

The previous edition, held in Goa in 2023, spanned five cities and saw Maharashtra emerge as the top-performing state, winning 228 medals, including 80 golds. Arunachal Pradesh’s participation in the upcoming event highlights the state’s growing prominence in India’s sporting landscape.
