Arunachal Pradesh is all set to host the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships 2023 from May 14-17, 2023, informed Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The tournament will be held at the Dorjee Khandu Badminton Hall, Rajbhawan, Itanagar.
CM Khandu took to Twitter and wrote, “A moment of great pride as Arunachal is hosting the international event – South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships 2023 – in Itanagar from May 14-17. Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, sport is getting a big boost in the country. Our sportspersons are excelling in national & international events. Altogether six countries are participating in the TT Championship here that will witness arrival of 120 delegates.”
Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday, May 8 held a review meeting with state sports minister Mama Natung and office-bearers of Table Tennis Association Arunachal to make the event a grand success.
CM Pema Khandu said that such events will give exposure to the players of the state and motivate them to excel.
CM Khandu also launched the logo, mascot of SA TT Championship and released a pigeon, the symbol of peace.
The event is being organised under the auspices and authority of the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) and the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
Altogether six countries will participate in the TT Championship.
Stag Americas 16 tables, Stag 40+ balls, and Stag flooring will be used for the tournament.
At the championship, there will be U19 Boys’ and Girls’ Teams, U15 Boys’ and Girls’ Teams, U19 Boys’ and Girls’ Singles, U15 Boys’ and Girls’ Singles, U19 Boys’ and Girls’ Doubles, U19 & U15 Mixed Doubles events. The singles and doubles competitions will be knockout-style, while the team competitions will follow the New Swaythling Cup System format.
All of the events will have a draw on May 13, and there will be no entry fees for any of them.
