The villages of Arunachal Pradesh have been electrified under the Deen Dayal Upadhay Gram Jyoti Yojana on April 2018 before its deadline.
The project was undertaken by the Union Ministry of power along with the state power department, which was monitored by Rural Electrification Corporation.
The villagers of Kongkra Putu, which is around 2 kms away from Naharlagun, have informed that their village was electrified this May through the Yojana.
While the villagers were happy that their village has been electrified, they sought for higher kilovolt transformer from the existing transformer of 16 kilovolt.
Moreover, it is to be mentioned that although the villages have been electrified, at least 50 thousand houses are yet to be electrified in the state under the Shaubhagya scheme, which mainly focuses on house to house electrification.
Meanwhile, Executive Engineer of Naharlagun electrical division, Janu Taying informed that 80 villages are already electrified in Papum Pare district under the DDUGJY and other villages are partially electrified and will be electrified by August this month.
While responding to the public’s demand on the replacement of 16 KV transformer to a higher KV, the Executive Engineer said that it will be replaced soon by this year by maintaining phase by phase.
