Arunachal Pradesh gets its first IVF baby

In a historic medical achievement for the region, Arunachal Pradesh on Monday recorded its first In vitro fertilization delivery, after a healthy baby girl conceived through IVF was delivered at the Niba Hospital in Naharlagun.

The baby was conceived following stimulation and egg pickup from the Hospital and accordingly, the frozen embryo was transferred to the hospital’s IVF centre.

IVF Specialist Dr. Jomson Bagra informed that the delivery was a challenging process with multiple possibilities of failures. With only a 30 percent success rate the Doctor further informed that there is no 100 percent guarantee on the success of IVF delivery.

Furthermore, Dr. Bagra informed that over 300 cases have come forward concerning infertility issues and some few IVF cases are still under the process.

Meanwhile, Niba Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr. Chetha Langkhun informed that the delivery is a great achievement and a proud moment for Niba Hospital and State’s Health care facility in general.
