Around 60 Gaon Buras tendered their resignation as a mark of protest over government’s alleged attempt to shift the already notified Siang district headquarters from Pangin to Boleng in Arunachal Pradesh.
The resignation letters were submitted to the Deputy and additional Deputy Commissioner of the Siang district.
The letter clearly stated that the gaon buras are aggrieved over the decision of the state cabinet taken on March 12 to shift the Siang district headquarters to Boleng.
They are opposing the proposed bill for amendment and are demanding that the re-organization act be placed in the monsoon session of the assembly.
They are firm in their decision and made it clear that they will continue with the protest and fight until the state government pays heed to their genuine demand.
A goan bura said that the people of the Pangin region has already donated huge stretches of land to the government for the new district head quarters.
