Arunachal: Cloudburst, flash floods cause massive damage in Itanagar

The areas like Papunallah, Niti Vihar, and Abotani Colony experienced the maximum impact and damages.
A cloudburst triggered an unprecedented flash flood in Itanagar Capital Region, causing extensive damage to houses, roads, and other structures on Sunday.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported from the flash flood.

While speaking to Northeast Live, Secretary of Disaster Management Dani Sulu said that a cloudburst occurred at around 11 am without any prior warning, causing extensive damage in various parts of the capital city.
He also informed that several landslides have been reported in multiple locations.

Sulu also added that, NH415 between Itanagar and Naharlagun and Dree Ground have been damaged by the heavy rainfall.
“Concerned authorities are visiting the affected areas. Relief camps have already been set up for the affected people”, he stated.
