The National People’s Party has released its first list of candidates for the elections to the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.

NPP’s first list of candidates consists of 29 candidates including those of 2 State Ministers – Kumar Waii and Jarkar Gamlin and 6 other sitting MLAs that defected from the BJP to the NPP.

The list was released by the Party’s State President G Kabak on Wednesday evening after approval of the NPP’s Central Executive Committee.

The list also featured the name of former Arunachal BJP General Secretary Jarpum Gamling, who quit the BJP on Monday expressing that he couldn’t let down the expectations of his supporters following the BJP’s denial to give him a party ticket to contest the polls.

On the other hand, Kumar Waii had blamed Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu of not giving him a ticket as he allegedly thought of him as a Chief Ministerial candidate.

Waii will be contesting from the Bameng constituency, the Gamling Brothers – Jarkar Gamling and Jarpum Gamling will contest from Aalo East and Liromoba constituencies respectively.

Sitting legislators – Thangwang Wangham, Tapuk Taku, Pangka Bage and Pani Taram, who switched sides from the BJP to the NPP, have also made it to the first list. However, the names of Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor and that of Wanglin Lowangdong have been left out of the first list.

Meanwhile, present NPP MLAs – Mutchi Mithi, Nikh Kamin and Tirong Aboh would also be contesting from their respective constituencies.
