Arunachal: Army disposes 544 unexploded mortar shells

After the unfortunate November 24th incident where three children of Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district lost their lives due to an accidental blast of a live mortar shell.

The Army and district administration have taken an initiative to request the villagers in the vicinity of the Nara Tiding firing range to deposit unexploded mortar shells in their possession which they collected from the firing range.

According to Defence Spokesman Colonel Chiranjit Konwar, the villagers have positively responded to the call of the local Army unit and the civil administration brought in large quantity of shells.

554 such shells submitted by the villagers were destroyed by the Army at firing range in the last two days.
