First Published: 13th December, 2023 19:28 IST

APPSC chairman designate Prof Pradip Lingfa and member Dr Ashan Riddi could not be sworn in today as they are yet to complete the resignation process from the central government

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik administered the oath of office to Colonel Koj Tari and Rosy Taba, the two newly appointed members of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in a solemn swearing in ceremony held in the Governor’s House in Itanagar today in the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, his cabinet colleagues and other dignitaries.

Along with Col Tari and Rosy Taba, Prof Pradip Lingfa, named as the new chairman of the Commission and Dr Ashan Riddi selected as a member of the Commission were to be sworn in today but Prof Lingfa and Dr Riddi could not be sworn in as they are yet to complete the resignation formalities from the offices they currently hold.

Both Prof Lingfa and Dr Riddi are central government employees.

The APPSC has been functioning without a chairman for over a year now. The 5-member Commission had been functioning with only one member and without a chairman since October 2022, after former chairman Nippo Nabam and three other members resigned from their posts amid the controversy over the question paper leak issue in the APPSC assistant engineer civil exams held last year.

The go ahead for the appointment of the new APPSC chairman and the three members was given during a cabinet meet held last evening under the chairmanship of CM Khandu. The Cabinet decision was taken considering recommendations of the Screening Committee for selection of Chairman and Member of APPSC and the Gauhati High Court judgement dated 8 December.
