The junior engineer and the supervisor of a private construction company who were abducted by armed militants from Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on November 16 have been released by their captors on Tusday evening.
The junior engineer-Sashan Yadav and the supervisor-Liamgao Pansa were abducted by four heavily armed militants equipped with sophisticated weapons from an under construction bridge site between Pongchau and Konnu village.
The militants had also snatched away more than 20 mobile handsets from the bridge construction workers.
Security forces said that as per their investigation the NSCN (K-YA) could be behind the abduction.
Security forces had launched a massive search operation to trace out the abducted duo, but could not succeed.
Although extortion was suspected to be the main reason for the abduction, it could not be immediately confirmed whether any ransom was paid for the release of the two abducted persons.
Earlier, on October 29, Village Chief of Kamhua Noksa village-Katwang Wangham along with his brother-Wangtai Wangsa were abducted by rebels of the NSCN Ang Mai faction on October 29.
However, nearly two weeks after being held captive, the village chief and his brother were released safely on November 10.
