A Jawan was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Narengi Army Camp in Guwahati. As per reports, the jawan, identified as 52-year-old Khamliang Khap was on duty when a marauding wild jumbo ventured out from the nearby Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary and attacked him, leaving the jawan grievously injured. Khamliang was reportedly rushed to the Basistha Army hospital. Later he succumbed to his injuries.
