Indian army troopers on Tuesday continued with their intensive operations along the Indo-Bhutan border in Western Assam and engaged in house to house searches in a bid to track down the elusive NDFB-S leader G Bidai and his top aides.
Around 1800 troopers are carrying out the offensive for the second day today following clear instructions from the government to neutralise the trigger happy NDFB-S which is outside the purview of the peace process.
The focus of the search operations today intensified at Baksa. The ongoing offensive is among the biggest counter insurgency ops by the army in Assam after operation Bajrang and operation Rhino.
Top Sources had told NE live that from December 2014-march 2018 a total of 63 NDFB-S militants have been killed in shoot outs with forces while 1052 others have been arrested. The current assault where the army is being backed by helicopters and para troopers is seen as a fight to the finish in the governments bid to make the NE insurgency free.
