The Indian Army has apprehended an active cadre of NSCN-IM in a swift operation from the outskirts of Namtola area in Charaideo district of Assam on Friday.
The apprehended cadre has been identified as Self-Styled Private Alem Wangsu, who according to the Army was involved in extortion activities in Tizit and Charaideo area of Nagaland and Assam respectively.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of the cadre, which was a result of relentless pursuit over the last 2 months.
The arrested insurgent has been handed over to the Charaideo police for further investigation.
