Army and Assam Police busts NSCN (IM) extortion racket in Assam, 5 arrested

The extortion racket was busted in Tinsukia district of Assam

A major extortion network of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland NSCN (IM) was busted and 5 persons involved in channelising the extortion money to NSCN (IM) cadres were arrested in Assam’s Tinsukia district, PRO defence said in a release.

The extortion racket was busted by a joint team of the Army and Assam Police during operations was launched in multiple areas of Tinsukia

A tea garden owner who received an extortion threat of Rs 10 lakhs from an NSCN (IM) cadre was kept under the surveillance.

The first Over Ground Worker (OGW) was apprehended, leading to the arrest of 4 more linked persons, disrupting the entire extortion chain.
