In a major development in the APSC cash-for-job scam, police have made some fresh arrests in the case.
Intensifying its crackdown the police Sunday night arrested APS officer Kabita Das, from Duliajan for being involved in the scam. It is to be noted here that Das is the Dibrugarh district Deputy Superintendent of Police and is being detained at the Assam police special branch headquarters in Guwahati.
Apart from this, Surajit Choudhury and a lawyer Sailen Sharma Barua have also been arrested by the police. Surajit Choudhury is the husband of arrested APSC officer named Pallabi Sharma Choudhury.
According to reports, Choudhury had allegedly tried to bribe a judge with one crore rupees through his lawyer Sailen Sharma Baruah for the bail of his arrested wife.
It is to be noted here that Sailen Sharma Baruah is the vice president of the Darrang district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
