APSC cash for job scam gets murkier; 19 more ACS/APS officers arrested

The Assam Police have arrested all the 19 Assam Public Service Commission officers after they appeared before investigating officials for a handwriting test at the Assam Police special branch headquarters

The Assam Police have arrested all the 19 Assam Public Service Commission officers after they appeared before investigating officials for a handwriting test at the Assam Police special branch headquarters at Guwahati today.

The arrested officials include 13 ACS officers, 3 APS officers, one DTO, one tax superintendent and one tax inspector and involved in the APSC cash-for-jobs scam.

The handwriting test has begun from 10 am. The handwriting samples were observed at a forensic laboratory where they will be compared to their handwritten answer sheets from the APSC exams.

The 19 officers are Surajita Hazarika, Utpal Bhuyan, Bornali Das, Sushovan Das, Dhrubajyoti Chakraborty, Moijur Ilahi Laskar, Moon Majumdar, Mustafa Ahmed Barbhuyan, Mohammad Saibur Rahman Barbhuyan, Monica Teronpi, Ganesh Chandra Das, Shrabanti Sengupta, Deepshikha Phukan, Leenakrishna Kakoti, Rituraj Neog, Nipon Kumar Pathak, Gulshan Daulagapu, Pallabi Sharma and Bhargav Phukan.

It is to be noted, that Pallabi Sharma is the daughter of BJP MP RP Sharma, while Bhargav Phukan and Deepshikha are the children of former judge Jamini Gogoi Phukan. All the summoned officers were appointed to their posts in 2016.
