APDCL, in a post on its Facebook page wrote that there is no proposal for any tariff hike in this financial year meaning there would be no hike till March
Much to the relief of consumers, the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has clarified that there is no further hike in power tariff this financial year and news reports about an increase in electricity tariffs in the state are “misleading”.
Refuting the news reports, APDCL, in a post on its Facebook page wrote, “It is to bring to notice of all our valued consumers that the news that has been circulating in various media platforms about the hike in tariff is misleading. There is no proposal of APDCL for any tariff hike for this financial year. It is a regular routine for APDCL to submit a tariff proposal to AERC every year.”

The power distribution company did say that it had recently submitted a revised tariff plan for the financial year 2024-25 to Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC), the body that determines power tariff, as part of regular practice.
In October this year APDCL had issued a notice to its consumers announcing the revised Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPA) rates. As per this notice, power tariff for consumption up to 300 units has been raised by 30 paise per unit. For consumption between 301 and 500 units, there has been a hike of 50-paise per unit, and for consumption exceeding 500 units, the increase in tariff has been Rs 1.29 per unit.
