Chaos and panic gripped the people of Noonmati area of Guwahati after another water pipeline burst this evening triggering a gush of water that flooded several houses.
As per inputs, the incident has been reported at Sector 2 in Noonmati.
The Kamrup Metro District Administration said that the affected pipeline belonged to the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL).
The water supply was temporarily halted for some time after the incident but, the situation is now under control and the water supply has been restored. No human casualty was reported.
Notably, this is the 3rd incident of a water pipeline burst reported within a month.
Earlier, on June 6, a JICA-Gammon water pipeline burst in Rajgarh area and damaged several shops and houses in the nearby areas.
On, May 25, a JICA-Gammon water pipeline burst in Kharghuli area claimed the life of a local resident, left many injured, and damaged at least 30 houses and several vehicles.
After the horrific pipeline burst, angry locals came out in the streets slamming the government as well as the JICA and Gammon India limited for the faulty work.
