Amid the ongoing row over non-tabling of Manipur Hill Areas ADC Bill, 2021 in the state Assembly, Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday made it clear that the bill cannot be placed until its contents are thoroughly examined.
Talking to media persons in Imphal today, the Manipur Chief Minister said that it was not possible to table a bill without ascertaining the content.
The chief minister’s reaction comes at a time when pressure groups in Manipur’s hill districts have stepped their protests demanding tabling of the bill.
The All Tribal Students Union of Manipur or ATSUM along with others had given a boycott call to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s Go to Hills 2.0 initiative in Senapati today where a 12 hour bandh is underway. The shutdown will be effective till 6 PM.
The shutdown is a show of resentment against the alleged indifferent attitude of the state government over non-tabling of Manipur Hill Areas ADC Bill, 2021 besides other issues.
