The Chief Minister also urged the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to monitor ticket prices and ensure affordability across all routes.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has commended Alliance Air’s decision to cap fares to Imphal at Rs 5000 per ticket.

Highlighting the initiative’s significance, Chief Minister Singh described it as a “lifeline” for residents during the state’s prolonged crisis. “Manipur has been going through a tough period for the past 20 months, and air travel has become the only viable option for many. However, exorbitant airfares were adding to the burden. The Rs. 5,000 cap is a timely and much-needed relief for our people,” he said.

The Chief Minister also urged the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to monitor ticket prices and ensure affordability across all routes. He highlighted the need for sustained efforts to maintain reasonable fares, especially as air connectivity is now vital for the state’s residents.

Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in the Northeast. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have significantly increased investments in air infrastructure, bridging the gap between the Northeast and the rest of India,” he stated.

The new flight services will operate twice weekly, connecting Imphal to Guwahati in the mornings, Kolkata in the evenings, and Dimapur, all at an affordable price point.

CM Biren Singh also extended his gratitude to Alliance Air and called on officials to assess ground realities to ensure consistent implementation of the fare cap.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has virtually inaugurated new flight services connecting Imphal to Guwahati, Kolkata, and Dimapur on Wednesday.
