The All Assam Adivasi Students Union staged a protest today against sand mafias operating in Eastern Assam’s Golaghat district.
The protesters even lit earthen lamps and incense sticks in front of the effigy of Assam Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya.
It may be mentioned here that the sand mafias have been indulged in illegal sand mining activities near the Doikrong river at Numaligarh.
Meanwhile, the students union has also shown discontentment towards the exploitation of natural resources and bad roads in the area through the means of the protest.
