All the four accused in the Hyderabad veterinarian gang rape and murder case have been killed in a police encounter with Telangana police early on Friday.

The police said the four accused were taken to the crime scene, when they allegedly attempted to flee and were shot at. The encounter took place on the NH-44 near Hyderabad — the same highway where the charred body of the 26-year-old was found.

As per initial reports, the four accused had been taken to the spot for recreation of the crime scene, when they were shot dead by the police while trying to escape.

The post-mortem of the accused will be conducted at Mahbubnagar district hospital. Hyberabad Commissioner VC Sajjanar has confirmed that all of the four accused were killed between 3 AM and 6 AM at Chatanpally near Shadnagar.

The four accused were arrested and were in judicial custody and lodged in high-security cells at Cherlapally Central Jail in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the father and sister of the victim expressed their happiness over the death of the accused in the hands of police. According to them, justice has been meted out.

The charred body of the 26-year-old woman, working as an assistant veterinarian at a state-run hospital, was found under a culvert in Shadnagar area of Hyderabad on November 28, a day after she went missing.
