The Dimasa Students Union and other organizations have raised voices against the National Highway authorities.
Not just natural calamities, but Assam’s Dima Hasao district has also been facing a series of fatal road accidents in the past few months, claiming the lives of several youths. This has emerged as a severe cause of concern for the people of the district in general.
To get a better understanding of the situation, Team Northeast Live embarked on a mission to find out the root cause of such accidents along the National Highway from Manderdisa to Haflong in Dima Hasao.
Team Northeast Live interacted with several citizens, victims, and also local police stations who mentioned came up with various reasons for the incidents.
If rash driving came out as one of the prominent reasons for such accidents, locals also held National Highway authorities responsible for negligence.
Residents in the district pointed out that not putting proper signage at diversions, sharp curves, dumping of soil on roads, and non-completion of ongoing works on National Highways are some of the key reasons for the mishaps taking place.
So far, the Dimasa Students Union and other organizations have raised voices against the National Highway authorities.
