The Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) has announced that it is going to retain Tawang and Khonsa headquarters as examination centres for any exams that is conducted under the board in the future.

The decision was taken after the All Tirap District Students Union (ATDSU) had opposed the shifting of the APSSB, IGNOU and National Institute of Open Schooling centres from Khonsa, the district headquarter of Tirap.

While opposing the government’s move, the ATDSU had said that it is very surprising and on unexpected lines that the government has decided to shift these important centres which had been helping the students and job seeking youths of the three easternmost districts of Arunachal Pradesh namely Tirap, Changlang and Longding.

In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Tirap district, the ATDSU had demanded reallocation of the three centres at Khonsa, so that the students and youths are not deprived of higher education or government jobs.
