Advance team to receive Manipur CM N Biren Singh ambushed

The 20-car convoy that was on way to Jiribam from Imphal came under fire as miscreants opened fire from a hill-top between Kotlen and Noney

An advance vehicle party on its way to Jiribam to receive Chief Minister N Biren Singh was ambushed today along the Imphal-Jiribam road. As per reports, at least 1 civilian driver sustained critical injuries in the attack.

The convoy with security men were fired upon using automatic weapons and the incident took place between Kotlen and Noney, top security officials said.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh who is in Delhi, is scheduled to reach Jiribam later tomorrow and the convoy was on its way to receive the Chief Minister.

The convoy was on its way to Jiribam to receive the Chief Minister who was supposed to land in the District to assess the situation in Jiribam that has been witnessing incidents of violence and arson over the past few days and the CM has asked for an action taken report from the state police by tomorrow.
