Govinda is yet to issue an official statement about his involvement in the case.
Bollywood actor Govinda will soon be questioned by the Odisha economic offences wing (EOW) in connection to their probe into the Rs 1000 crore online ponzi scam.
The actor reportedly endorsed the company’s operations in a few promotional videos, which has been found guilty of running the pan-India scam.
As per reports, a company named Solar Techno Alliance (STA-Token), which had its presence in several countries across the globe, operated an online ponzi scheme under the pretence of cryptocurrency investment.
The company reportedly collected deposits without Reserve Bank of India authorisation from over 2 lakh people across the country and raised a whopping Rs 1000 crore.
STA, which has its presence globally, made a whopping 1000 crore via their alleged illegal practice.
Sasmita Sahu, DSP EOW Bhubaneswar shared details about the same and said, “After receiving intelligence from higher courts we have started the investigations against STA, as per the allegation the STA has launched its own token, named STA token, and which has been promoted at the local level in bhadrak as a ponzi scheme or multi-level marketing scheme in which people are asked to join STA by adding members under them, so the allegations said it’s a chain system in which members get benefits and get lucrative returns on adding new members in their down line.
“The initial inquiry was conducted by EOW Bhubaneswar and the allegations proved to be true. Nirodh kumar Das of bhadrak as the odisha head of STA and he has added more than 5/6 thousand members in the name of STA making an office in bhadtak”, Sahu added.
Govinda had attended a mega event hosted by STA in Goa in July this year and thus, a team of Odisha EOW will reach Mumbai soon to question the actor regarding his association with the company.
Sahu added that if Govinda’s role in the case is only limited to being an endorser of the company as per a valid agreement, then he will be made a witness in the case.
Govinda is yet to issue an official statement about his involvement in the case.
Meanwhile, the company’s country and Odisha heads, Gurtej Singh Sidhu and Nirod Das, respectively, were arrested on August 7.
As per reports, under the scam, they took lakhs of money in deposits from investors in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand and other states.
