In a major success against insurgency, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the RPF/PLA outfit from Imphal West district in the wee hours of today.

Acting on reliable inputs, a team of SPL/ CDO Unit Khabeisoi led by Bebekananda Singh, OC- SPL CDO Unit Khabeisoi, rushed to the Uripok Sorbon Thingel area in Imphal West at 4.10am and conducted frisking and checking in the suspected area.

An unidentified person driving a two-wheeler coming in from Uripok Baspati Leikai was detained for verification.

When questioned, the individual identified himself as Yumlembam Jokumar Singh, 43, and stated that he is an active RPF/PLA cadre with the rank of self-proclaimed Lance Corporal.

The rebel confessed to having been working under the command of a self-styled Major Henba Singh and was involved in collecting huge amounts of extortion money from businessmen and the general public in Imphal.

He also confessed to having received basic military training at Thanging Ching Daibang in Churachandpur district.

Meanwhile, a mobile phone and the two-wheeler he was riding on were also seized from the arrested cadre.

The arrested person and the seized items were later handed over to Imphal Police Station for conducting further legal procedures.
