The dharna was organized under the aegis of Yowa Antony Hollongi Nyvgam Youth Association and Hollongi Indigenous People’s Forum.

Indigenous people of Hollongi falling under the 14th Doimukh constituency in Arunachal today have staged a peaceful dharna near the airport tri-junction road at Hollongi, voicing their grievances regarding the Nomenclature of “Donyi polo airport Itanagar” after finalizing and passing the law during the legislative assembly session that took place on Tuesday last.

The protestors insisted on changing the name to “donyi polo airport hollongi” reasoning that Hollongi does not come under the ICR region and it is disrespectful to their place as the name “hollongi” has been passed on by their ancestors and the locals have lived under the name since time immemorial.

The dharna was organized under the aegis of Yowa Antony Hollongi Nyvgam Youth Association and Hollongi Indigenous People’s Forum.

Addressing the media, Yowa Anthony said that till the time the name is not changed to “donyi polo airport hollongi”, they will not allow any planes to take off or land at the airport.
