He also requested Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, who is also the Chancellor of the Kokrajhar-based varsity, to take the matter seriously.

All-Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) president Dipen Boro demanded the suspension of Professor Laishram Ladu Singh from the post of Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University with immediate effect.

Boro has requested Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, who is also the Chancellor of the Kokrajhar-based varsity, to take the matter seriously and suspend VC prof Singh at the earliest.

Prof Singh was arrested earlier by the Anti-corruption and CM vigilance following allegations of financial and other irregularities at the University.

Boro said that if VC Prof Singh is not removed soon then the ABSU will launch a protest again in front of the University main Gate.

On July 28, the Assam government had constituted a high-level enquiry committee to look into the charges against the VC. Headed by an additional chief secretary, the panel was asked to submit its report within a month. The committee was set up by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.

Led by ABSU, several organisations have been protesting against the irregularities allegedly committed by Prof Singh.
