The All Assam Students Union along with 28 other organisations has begun their mass satyagraha movement at the Latasil playground in Guwahati. The AASU along with 28 other organisations are putting forward several demands before the BJP-led state government.
These include scrapping of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, sealing of the Indo-Bangladesh border and protection of the indigenous people of Assam under the provisions of the Assam Accord.
The AASU along with 28 other other organisations had organised a number of protests in the run up to the mass satyagraha to oppose the Centre’s proposal to pass the vexed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Hundreds have joined the protest and the crowd is growing with time.
