While contenders for the coveted post returned from Delhi today, there is still no clarity over who will be the next CM of Manipur.
While, reports were doing rounds in a section of the media yesterday that the BJP central leadership has given the go ahead for N Biren Singh’s name for the CM’s post, the man himself has refused having knowledge of any such thing.
In fact, upon his arrival caretaker CM N Biren Singh said that the BJP is a disciplined and organised party and all decision regarding the CM’s post will be taken by the parliamentary board.
CM N Biren Singh also indicated that while there were lot of speculations in the media about the CM’s name, nothing had been official communicated so far.
MLA Thongam Biswajit Singh who arrived in Imphal this morning also refused to comment on the CM issue. The Thongju MLA, while speaking to the media, also said there is no groupism in the BJP and that the party leadership will take a call on the next CM.
Meanwhile, state BJP president A Sarda Devi, who was also in Delhi, said that there is no official communication so far on the CM’s name and things will be clear after holi.
It may be mentioned that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and law minister Kiren Rijiju are expected to arrive in the state soon for the party’s legislature meeting.
The BJP bagged a clear majority in the recently concluded Assembly elections in Manipur by winning 32 seats in the 60-member house.
