The Assam government on Monday said that 98.35 percent of fencing work along Assam- Bangladesh border has been completed.
According to News On Air, in a written reply to the State Assembly session on Monday, State Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that 1.65 percent fencing work is pending due to objections raised by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
He also informed that as per the provision of the Assam Accord, 1,34,810 illegal citizens have been detected in Assam and nearly 30 thousand of them have been expelled from the country so far.
The three-day winter session of the Assam assembly has begun today at Dispur.
