9 new COVID-19 positive cases detected in Nagaland; tally rises to 18

Nine more positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Nagaland on Thursday.

As per highly placed sources, the 9 fresh cases have been detected among individuals who have returned to the state from Chennai on May 22 after being stranded in the Tamil Nadu capital owing to the nationwide lockdown.

It has been learnt that, among the 9 new cases, 6 individuals have tested positive in Dimapur, while 3 cases have been detected in Tuensang. This takes the total number of active cases in the state to 18.

Taking to Twitter Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom confirmed, “9 more tested COVID19 positive case. All returnees from Chennai. 6 from Dimapur 3 from Tuensang With this, Nagaland as on 28/05/2020 stand with 18 +ve cases.”It was only yesterday, when 5 cases of COVID-19 were detected in the state. All the 5 individuals had returned from Chennai.

Out of these cases, 4 were reported from Dimapur while 1 person hailed from Kohima. The patients are undergoing treatment at COVID-19 facilities in Dimapur and Kohima.

It may be mentioned that Nagaland is witnessing a rise in positive cases following the return of stranded individuals to the state from different parts of the nation.
