In a tense day for Indian aviation, at least seven flights from major airlines received bomb threats on Tuesday, leading to diversions, delays, and heightened security measures. The threats thankfully turned out to be hoax calls and is said to have originated from the same social media account.
The flights who received the threats were Air India’s Delhi-Chicago route, IndiGo’s Dammam-Lucknow flight, Air India Express’s Jaipur-Ayodhya-Bengaluru and Madurai-Singapore flights, Akasa Air’s Bagdogra-Bengaluru flight, SpiceJet’s Darbhanga-Mumbai flight, and Alliance Air’s Amritsar-Dehradun flight.
IndiGo’s flight 6E 98, operating from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) to Lucknow, was diverted to Jaipur following a security-related alert. “The aircraft was isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked. We are working closely with the relevant authorities, and mandated checks are currently underway,” an IndiGo spokesperson confirmed.
