637 kg ganja worth Rs 3.18 cr sezied along Assam-Tripura border

Continuing its war on drugs, Assam Police have seized a large quantity of ganja (cannabis) with a market value of Rs 3.18 crore from Assam’s Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border on Saturday.
As per inputs, based on information, the Karimganj Police intercepted a truck at the Churaibari area along the Assam-Tripura border in the morning.
On checking the vehicle, the police team recovered 637 kg of ganja from the secret chambers of the vehicle. The driver of the truck managed flee from the scene.
The market value of the seized ganja is estimated at around Rs 3.18 crore, police told ANI.
A case has been registered in connection with this and an investigation into the matter is underway, said police.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the state police in the seizure.
“Acting on a tip off, 637 kg of Ganja has been recovered by
@karimganjpolice from the secret chambers of a vehicle at Churaibari check post in Assam-Tripura border. Further investigation is on. Well done @assampolice,” CM Sarma wrote on X.
