5 Films From NE Including 3 Assamese, 1 Garo and 1 Galo to be Screened in 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI)

These films include three Assamese films, one Garo film from Meghalaya, and one Galo language film from Arunachal Pradesh.

Sd: Indian Panorama will screen 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films at the 55th IFFI.

Five Northeastern regional films have been selected for screening at the prestigious Indian Panorama section of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). These films include three Assamese films, one Garo film from Meghalaya, and one Galo language film from Arunachal Pradesh.

The Assamese films selected are Rajesh Bhuyan’s “Swargarath,” Dr Bobby Sarma Baruah’s “Rador Pakhi,” and Jadumoni Dutta’s “Juiphul.”

The Garo film from Meghalaya “Chanchisoa,” which is directed by Elvachisa Ch Sangma and Dipankar Das, will also be screened.

The festival will feature a screening of Arunachal Pradesh’s Galo language film “Karken,” directed by Nending Loder.

The dates of the IFFI are set for November 20 to 28 in Panaji, Goa.

The National Film Development Corporation, and Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the State Government of Goa, organize the festival.

“Swargarath” will be featured in the mainstream cinema section, while “Chanchisoa,” a Garo film, has been chosen for the non-feature film category.

Indian Panorama will screen 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films at the 55th IFFI.

The 25 feature films in the package, which includes 5 mainstream blockbusters, were selected from a wide range of 384 recent Indian feature films. The jury has selected “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (Hindi),” which was directed by Randeep Hooda, as the opening film for Indian Panorama 2024.

The Indian Panorama will screen a selection of 20 non-feature films out of a total of 262 films.

The non-fiction films showcase how both up-and-coming and seasoned filmmakers may record, explore, amuse, and represent modern Indian values.
