An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale hit Sikkim at 8:49 PM on Monday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The quake was recorded at 15:19 UTC, with the epicentre located at a depth of 30 km, the EMSC said.
Tremors were felt across Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Bhutan and Nepal.
There was no immediate report of damage of property or casualties as a result of the quake.
