In the first such case in Tripura, COVID-19 has claimed the life of a journalist on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Jitendra Debbarma, a resident of Balaramthakur Para of Jirania in West Tripura.
Debbarma a cameraman with Chini Khorang, a Kakborok channel in Tripura was also a well-known composer among the indigenous people.
After contracting the virus, Jitendra Debbarma have been undergoing treatment since the last seven days. On Tuesday morning his condition turned critical and was shifted to Khumlung Hospital where he succumbed to the infection.
Debbarma is survived by two minor daughters. So far, a total of 329 people have died of COVID-19 infections in the state.
Meanwhile, MP Pratima Bhumik has also expressed her heartfelt condolences to the departed soul.
