Over 400 participants, including international and domestic tour operators, hoteliers, homestay owners, tourism service providers, and influencers, have arrived in Kaziranga, Assam, to attend the 3-day 12th International Tourism Mart (ITM).
The event promises a dynamic schedule, featuring state government presentations, B2B meetings, panel discussions, and cultural activities such as food demonstrations and live music. With its diverse activities and international participation, the event is poised to create lasting opportunities for tourism development in the region.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Padmapani Bora, Secretary, Assam Tourism stated, ” We have received around 43 international buyers and influencers from various countries. We have a lot of expectations from this tourism mart. We have organised a B2B meet tomorrow. The main objective is to promote Kaziranga. But along with that, buyers will come from all the eight states of NE. We are trying to showcase local handloom, handicrafts, musical instruments, and tea at the craft bazaar organised in Kaziranga.”
This event serves as a vital platform, bringing together tourism businesses and entrepreneurs from the eight North Eastern States—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim—to foster collaboration and interactions among buyers, sellers, media, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
A major highlight will be technical visits to renowned sites, including the UNESCO-listed Charaideo Moidam, the iconic Kaziranga National Park, the Hathikuli Tea Estate, and the Orchid and Biodiversity Park. Visitors can also explore the North East Bazaar, which will highlight the region’s unique crafts and products.
The three-day Mart will also engage international students who are studying in the North Eastern region and influencers all across the globe providing them with first hand insights into the area’s rich culture.
The event will be organized with a focus on minimizing environmental impact, employing energy-efficient practices, and the elimination of single-use plastics.
Organized annually by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the ITM aims to boost both domestic and international tourism to this vibrant and culturally rich region.
