3rd North East Games in Nagaland: Arunachal makes it to football semis

Athletes of Arunachal Pradesh continue to perform at a high level in the tournaments at the 3rd North East Games being held in Nagaland.

Arunachal has entered into the semi-finals of the football tournament, defeating Tripura 4-1 in their last group match at NAPTC Stadium in Chumoukedima yesterday.

Congratulating the team, Chief Minister Pema Khandu took to X and wrote, “Congratulations to Arunachal Pradesh team on its magnificent entry into Football semifinals by defeating Tripura (4-1) in third North East Games. Your determination and skill shone brightly in the thrilling match, showcasing what teamwork can achieve. Best of luck for the upcoming matches!”

Arunachal Pradesh has so far won 25 medals –3 gold, 7 silver, 15 bronze in football, volleyball, archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, pencak silat, sepaktakraw, table tennis, wushu etc.

The 3rd North East Games 2024 was kicked off at Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima in Nagaland on March 19.

As per reports, over 3000 athletes from 8 northeastern states are competing in 15 disciplines being held in 12 venues across three districts–Kohima, Chumoukedima and Dimapur.
