At least 38 Indian nationals, including children and women, working as bonded labourers in a brick factory in Nepal’s Rautahat region have been rescued by Nepalese authorities, police said on Friday.
The rescue operation was carried out on Wednesday after police officers in the district received information about a group of Indians (20 men and 18 children and women) from Uttar Pradesh being forced to work as bonded labourers in the district’s brick factory.
As a result, a police team from the local police station was dispatched to rescue them.

As per reports, a total of 38 Indians who were working as bonded labourers in the brick factory were rescued all hailing from Uttar Pradesh. The rescued Indians were handed over to the Sashastra Seema Bal in Bairganiya, Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, following the completion of the necessary legal and administrative paperwork.
Hundreds of men and women from various districts of Uttar Pradesh are working in Rautahat’s brick factory, according to officials.
While many people continue to work despite poor working conditions, others leave in order to pursue better opportunities in the area.
