ECI reviews poll preparedness with Assam CEO, DCs and senior officers

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday conducted a review meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam and other senior officials via video conferencing, to take stock of the preparedness of 12 districts going for the poll in the first phase of assembly elections in the state.

Dharmendra Sharma, Director General of ECI, along with Special Observers for the State, Sudarsanam Srinivasan and Ashok Kumar from ECI, with CEO Assam, Nitin Khade, other senior officers of police, excise, transport departments participated in the review meeting.

The Deputy Commissioners (DC) and Superintendents of Police (SP) of the 12 districts going for polls in the first phase also participated in the video conference.

The assembly elections in Assam will be held in three phases starting March 27.

In the first phase, 47 constituencies of 12 districts will go to polls, while the second and third phase of the elections will take place on April 1 and 6. The counting of votes will be held on May 2.
